INTRODUCTION
Founded in 1978, Gallery Yeh has worked constantly to read the tendencies of contemporary art and support contemporary artists. As a superb communicator of diverse visual arts and culture it is a gallery within the equilibrium of tradition and modernity. The gallery has introduced contemporary art not only to the Korean art world but also to the world through exhibitions of many genres including painting, sculpture, photography, video, printmaking, installation, and media art.

Since inauguration the gallery has held exhibitions showcasing significant streams and accomplishments in modern and contemporary Korean art, offering opportunities to properly appreciate and evaluate the art worlds of Korean masters, such as Pon-ung Ku, Ok-yeon Kwon, Hwan-ki Kim, Kwan Nam, Sang-bong To, Jong-ha Byun, Eung-sung Son, Ji-ho Oh, Dae-won Lee, Jik-soon Yim, Kyung-ja Chun, and Tschang-yeul Kim. The gallery has also presented work by influential modern and contemporary Korean artists through planned shows and posthumous work exhibitions, enabling the general public to judge the standards of contemporary Korean art. This exhibition record brings pride to the gallery. The gallery has also provided opportunities to grasp the flow of current contemporary art and view the world art market through exhibitions introducing world reputed artists such as Arman, Jesus Raphael Soto, Lynn Chadwick, Niki de Saint-phalle, Frank Stella, Alberto Giacometti, and Alex Katz.
Participating in prestigious international art fairs, such as ARCO in Spain, FIAC in France, NICAF in Japan, Art Cologne in Germany, SCOPE in the United States, and Beijing Art Fair in China, the gallery has offered Korean artists opportunities to advance to the international art stage, and connect the Korean art world and international art market. It has also worked energetically in stimulating the sensibilities of artists and bringing new vitality to the art scene, not only through shows in its indoor space but also through public art projects and exhibitions in its outer space, and through collaborative work with corporations as part of their marketing activities.
The Sinsa-dong Garosu-gil area in downtown Seoul where the gallery is located is the hub for arts, culture, fashion, and design where visitors may feel Seoul’s dynamic culture. In 1982 when the gallery reopened, it was a forerunner of Gangnam culture, spearheading regional festivals like the Shinsa Art Fair, Shinsa Cultural Festival, and Gangnam Cultural Festival, interacting with the general public before the Garosu-gil came about.
The gallery building, reminiscent of a gigantic canvas, received the Korean Institute of Architects Award in 2006, Korean Architecture Award and the 24th Seoul Architecture Award in 2006, and the AR Award for emerging Architecture in 2007, a world-class architecture award and the highest honor for young architects. The gallery space, composed of two stories (7000 square feet in total) engages the public as a local cultural attraction.

With a reputation as representative Korean gallery in forming contemporary Korean art history, the gallery embodies its expertise among global networks, communicating with the public through diverse shows and programs. It will also contribute to world culture, consistently inviting significant artists and discovering and fostering young and up-and-coming artists.
