작가 김진란은 치유라는 은유를 담고 있는 의료용 붕대를 재료로 숲과 바다 등의 자연에 대한 테마를 보여준다. 다른 일반적인 회화와 달리 작가의 재료로 쓰이는 붕대는 보는 사람들에게 내면의 특정한 기억과 감정을 불러일으킨다. 연금술사들이 물질과 영적 에너지를 담아 특별한 종류의 화학 작용을 활성화하듯 작가는 붕대라는 물질을 하나의 정신적인 세계로 치환하여 삶과 죽음, 치유에 대한 이야기들을 붕대의 실들이 풀려나가듯 한 올 한 올 풀어낸다. 재와 그을음, 물과 혼합한 붕대들은 작가의 손길을 통해 겨울의 적막한 눈이 쌓인 산이 되고 파도가 치는 바다가 되며 작가가 활동하고 있는 독일의 검은 숲이 되기도 한다. 멀리서 보는 풍경은 거의 흑백 사진처럼 보이지만, 가까이서 보면 풀어지고 찢어진 붕대의 실들이 입체적인 음영의 레이어를 만들어낸다. 작가가 날실과 씨실이 오가며 촘촘히 짜인 붕대로 만들어내는 신비로운 자연의 세계를 통해 사람들이 각자 가진 상처의 기억들이 아물고 영혼을 치유 받고자 하는 소망을 담고 있다.

   The artist Jin Ran Kim thematizes nature such as the forest or the ocean by materializing medical bandages which has a metaphor of recovery and healing. Unlike the usual painting that the audience may encounter, the bandage conjures a specific memory and emotion inside them. As alchemists activate a special kind of chemical reaction by a mixture of matter and spiritual energy, the artist transposes the matter of bandage from the material world to the spiritual world, and narrates the stories of life and death and healing as if untangling the threads from the bandage. The bandage combined with ash and soot becomes, with the touch of the artist, a forlorn mountain covered in snow in winter, an ocean with crashing waves, and the black forest of Germany where the artist bases her artistic career on. The scenery seems almost as if it is a black and white photography in a distance, but on a closer examination it exhibits a cubist layer of shadow consisted of unwound and torn bandage threads. Through the mysterious world of nature that the artist constructs using bandages with an intricate structure of weft and warp, it is hoped that the audience may recover from their hurtful memory and have their souls healed.
