Gallery Yeh plans to host an exhibition called ‘Sharing the Passion’ attended by 10 backbone male artists who are playing a pivotal role in investigating the formative possibility of Korea modern art and extending the boundary of the art. It is a rare opportunity to appreciate the works of leading artists in these days when the art circles are paying much attention to modern masters and newly emerging artists. Gallery Yeh hosts the exhibition for most influential artists in Korea, with a view to contributing to real development of the art circles comprising backbone artists. The participating artists include Yeon Gyu Kim who permanently reveres life and consistently searches for the source of life and Jong Hak Kim who tries to address basic problems of Korea modern art in the 1990s in his original formative ways and whose works are regarded as crystals of his effort to incorporate the essence of paintings into painted objects. The works of Heung Mo Kim are sublimates of prompt and direct actions since they are successfully combining the soul of existing Oriental paintings with the color field abstract of Westermn paintings by using Chinese ink, acryl, Chinese drawing paper, and other materials. Man Gi Yang uses up-to-date media in order to touch on human communications and relations between individuals in this contemporary commercialized society and to graphically depict the contemporary society. The works of Seung Taek Jang win attention from people because they maximize the transparency and physicality of translucent Plexiglas coated with dozens of layers of color. The works of Deok Hyeon Jo are also fantastic since Jo has sensitive understanding about the porphological nature of arts and a sharp insight into art history and cultural hegemony. The sentimental and fairy works of Il Jeong are a world of such objects as hat, umbrella, and piano whose beauty is described in the harmony of shapes and colors the artist experiences. The works of Seon Ho Choi realize a traditional esthetic sense in contemporary paintings, whose moderated colors and sides are harmonized with each other. In Seon Choi has produced really sophisticated works while attempting to incorporate the ontological meaning of objects into their artistic property by means of the natural features of them, the trace of the meeting of objects and humans, and the intentions of the artist. Jin Uk Choi has honest eyes looking into the essence of objects and has closely and deeply observed the appearance, color, material quality, light, reflected light, and shadow of objects. I am more than assured that in this coming exhibition you shall appreciate the sublime works of leading artists of the art circles in Korea.
