 Hong Chong-Myung graduated from Tokyo Imperial Arts School, Japan ( Arts University at present) and has held various private and invitation exhibitions many times in domestic and overseas countries. He won various prizes such as the Prize of Education Minister at the 2nd and 6th National Exhibition, the Prize of Korea Christian Arts, the Prize of the Arts Academy Chairman, the Order of National Service Merit, the Order of Magnolia, the Prize of Arts and Culture ( distinguished service medal ). One day, I expressed the world of his works as the world of transcendent inspiration. The characteristics we can obviously find in his works is described as the fantastic world of animism, which is away from the real world of specific objects. His works use the existing organic living things such as flowers, fish, birds and men as a motive, but they are transformed to the shapes of picture and they are like the wall painting of ancient times when holiness ruled everything. Like the human beings of today living in the civilized society are longing for the place of the beginning of the world which is quite different from today, a solitary resentment which is folk and closely adhered to primordial psychology lies on a basis of his works. In the dazzling confusion of cities, the artist contemplates on the old tomb wall painting that has been awaiting the firelight of the soul for a long period of time, while having been buried somewhere in a dark and dismal basement
